Pros:

ok info for a beginner

|
Cons:
|
needs to be updated

Although the book is good for a beginner, I noticed a few things that I really didn't like:
1) Hartz products are subtly promoted through the use of pictures. (I would never recommend Hartz food to any cavy owner! It's by far one of the worst commercial foods on the market! If I'm not mistaken they also show pictures of Hartz Cedar Bedding - big no no.)
2) A couple of points need to be updated in their breeding section. They state that young female guinea pigs can become pregnant at around 12 weeks of age, however, there have been cases of pregnancy as early as 4 or 5 weeks. Therefore, I think they miss the point of separating young sows from their brothers at an earlier age.
3) They state that a guinea pig only needs 2 sq. ft of floor space, which is too small in my opinion.
I think there is better material out there for a first time owner.
